Young Dro – I Don’t Know Y’all (Featuring Yung LA)

“I Don’t Know Y’all” is the latest single off of Young Dro’s much anticipated sophomore album P.O.L.O. (Players Only Live Once).  Fans have been patiently waiting for the album to drop ever since Dro exploded onto the scene with the 2006 debut album Best Thang Smokin’.

The video directed by Gabriel Hart is very unique and fits into Dro’s style well.  By using bright, grainy colors to mix cartoon-esque images with real life, Gabriel’s creativity puts him in the running for dopest new video director alongside Motion Family.

Dro starts the hood track off with:

“I don’t know y’all,
I don’t fuck with y’all,
Rims double tall,
Y’alls double small,
Inside a nigga’s closet like the Grover mall,
One side Polo, the other side BOW,
Louis this, BOW,
Gucci that, BOW,
Akoo shit, BOW,
I’m doin that, BOW,
Ridin tall everyday smokin on loud,
You’ll see me when my diamond hit the damn crowd.”

Dro keeps his lyrics colorful and full of swag while proceeding to stunt on the track.

Even though P.O.L.O. has been pushed back to January, mixtapes such as I Am Legend and R.I.P. have been keeping the streets content while they wait.

Gucci Mane – Spotlight (Featuring Usher)

Gucci Mane teamed up with Polo Da Don and Usher on “Spotlight,” the second single from The State vs. Radric Davis.

It seems like every time Gucci Mane makes a track about females, it ends up being one of his better efforts.  “Fready Gurl,” “Gucci Girl,” “She Got A Friend,” “I Think I Love Her,” and now “Spotlight,” all have Gucci spitting catchy lyrics about his love life.

From the start of Gucci’s first verse, it’s obvious that his voice and lyrics perfectly contrast the smooth track’s feel.

“Rose by the fifty,
Uh now she tipsy,
Slow dancing in my mansion with no panties, want to get me,
Three girls, Gucci trippin,
That’s a lot of women,
Expensive denim jeans on,
Designer heels, ya feel me?
I don’t want no violence,
But damn she tryin to kill me,
She tryin to make me feel her,
I’m trying to make her feel me.”

Usher’s smooth hook coupled with Gucci’s ridiculous voice and lyrics will make this track a club favorite.

December 8th is going to be an exciting day for everyone in So Icey Ent and 1017 Brick Squad, as they’ve been putting in a massive amount of work over the past few years leading up to Gucci Mane’s current spot as one of the hottest rappers in the game.

Gucci may be able to continue his ascent in hip hop’s mainstream popularity, depending on how many units the upcoming album sells, and the number of street records it features.  I can’t wait to hear it!

Rihanna – Hard (Featuring Young Jeezy)

The most recent single to be released off of Rihanna’s upcoming album, Rated R, is “Hard” featuring Young Jeezy.  From what I hear, she’s going to try out a new sound with this album, and “Hard” has her coming off a bit edgier than I expected.

Lines such as, “Who think they can test me now/Run through your town, I shut it down/Brilliant, Resilient, fan mail from twenty seven million,” set the tone for “Hard,” as Rihanna dares other female artists to achieve her success.

Young Jeezy helps bring this track buzz in the streets by taking a shot at Gucci Mane with, “See my Louis chucks, Louis flag, Louis frames, Louis belt/ What that make me, Louis Mane?“ The remainder of Jeezy’s verse features the hard, chest thumping lyrics we have come to expect and love from The Snowman.

Rihanna’s upcoming album will undoubtedly do major numbers.

Label: Roc Nation

Hometown: Fayetteville, NC

After hearing J.Cole’s self-produced track, “Lights Please,” Jay-z signed the North Carolina artist to his Roc Nation label. This record deal put a lot of attention on the young emcee, who quickly released one of 2009’s best projects in The Warm Up mixtape. Now, unlike a number of popular southern hip hop artists who release material regularly to stay relevant, J.Cole has managed to keep his buzz alive for a little over a year since releasing that tape. His impressive lyricism even landed him a guest spot on Jay-z’s The Blueprint 3 album, opening the door to nation-wide exposure. J.Cole’s debut album is set to be released in late 2010.
