B.o.B. – Nothin’ On You (featuring Bruno Mars)
In a recent tweet, Atlantic Records announced that ”Nothin’ On You” would be B.o.B.’s first official single off the upcoming album, B.o.B. Presents The Adventures of Bobby Ray. This announcement was made despite the handful of singles B.o.B. has already released, including “Haterz Everywhere,” “I’ll Be in The Sky,” “No Man’s Land,” “Generation Lost,” and “Put Me On.”
That being said, “Nothin’ On You” is a great single, and the smooth hook provided by Bruno Mars will get the love song stuck in your head:
“Beautiful girls all over the world,
I could be chasing, but my time would be wasted,
They got nothing on you baby,
Nothing on you baby,
They might say hi and I might say hey,
But you shouldn’t worry about what they say,
Cause they got nothing on you baby,
Nothing on you baby.”
In between the chorus, B.o.B. uses his verses to speak about the girl he loves. Spitting lines such as:
“Hands down there will never be another one,
I’ve been around and I never seen another one,
Because your style they ain’t really got nothing on,
And you on, when you ain’t got nothing on,
Baby you the whole package, plus you pay your taxes
And you keep it real while them other stay plastic
You’re my wonder women, call me Mr. Fantastic.”
Tracks like this show B.o.B.’s diversity, as he touches on various sub genres that most emerging hip hop artists would avoid.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for additional singles from B.o.B.’s debut album, which is finally going to be released!
Joell Ortiz – Hello Brooklyn (Freestyle)
Joell Ortiz has been releasing a number of impressive freestyles as of late, proving yet again that he can go in with the best of them.
One of the most recent releases, “Hello Brooklyn Freestyle,” grabbed my attention with its quick lyrical assault on weak rappers. Joell goes in over the Beastie Boys’ bass heavy track with:
“Hate niggas who say, “I don’t try, this is effortlessly,”
Cause we can tell, You stink,
When you speak it smells,
Got that seven day with the devil flow,
Weak (week) as hell,
When they say next to the stage will be Joell,
The people yell, like that day in New York when the siameses fell,
You got a bunch of yes men saying ya good,
But ya’ll aint off the hook, you just never been hooked up…
When I spit it’s Christmas gifts,
Everything gets ripped,
I’m so far ahead of ya’ll with this rapping shit,
I got my back to the future like I’m mad at Biff,
It’s boring, man I’m over here yawning,
They got me throwing other nigga’s beats on the foreman.”
Although Joell Ortiz’s role in Slaughterhouse exposes his music to a greater fan base, I look forward to seeing the response his upcoming solo album, Free Agent, receives.
Until that album drops in 2010, more freestyles would be great!
Bow Wow – All I Know
Although extremely simple, the video for “All I Know” works well.
Bow Wow has a crazy beat to work with on the track, and if you pay attention to his lyrics, it seems like Drake has influenced his flow.
Traces of Drake’s style can be heard in:
“Whenever you mention the best emcees, just mention me,
The boy from Ohio, Reynoldsburg to be exact,
Niggas frontin at home, like I ain’t put it on the map,
Fuck all ya’ll hip hop critics, I aint here to please ya’ll,
My money’s so giant, boy your monies so ye tall,
And we are nothing alike, so don’t compare ‘em to me,
Now I get hit on by women who could be a parent to me.”
I’m excited to see how Bow Wow’s time at Cash Money pans out, as it seems to be a good fit for both parties.
“All I Know” will be on the, Greenlight 2, mixtape which will drop on December 24th as a follow up to Bow Wow’s successful The Green Light.
It also looks like “All I Know” will be featured on his upcoming Cash Money Records debut studio album, The Transition To Shad Moss, due out in 2010.
