Dom Kennedy – Hard Work Remix (Featuring Slim Thug and Rich Boy)
Dom Kennedy teamed up with Rich Boy, Slim Thug, and Don Cannon for the remix to “Hard Work,” one of my favorite tracks off Dom’s FutureStreet/DrugSounds project.
Slim Thug walks away with the best verse on the track, which sounds like it was made specifically for his flow:
“I used to dream of ridin Bentleys
Now I’m a owner,
Came a long way from pushin rocks on the corner,
Used to rock braids but the waves more growner,
Ten chains on and ain’t na one a loner,
A sixteen will cost you about the same as a brick,
Still get it independent, I ain’t gotta sign shit,
6′6” tall, bops think I play ball
Cause I’m spending like the pros when I go up in the mall,
Keep a bad bitch like she my I.D.,
Kush in my blunt like I got an IV,
I smoke and poke dimes like it’s a hobby,
I’m staying at the W, meet me in the lobby,
Better hide your chick when you see Slim T,
I’m a habitual, committing hoe robberies,
9 5 air max, ex dope runner,
I ball like Lebron but I aint got no jumper.”
Slim Thug’s verse takes me back to the Already Platinum days.
I’ve always just assumed that Dom Kennedy took the hook on “Hard Work” from Gucci Mane, but never did any research to back that assumption up. One day I’ll ask Dom, just to be sure, but until then, “Hard Work” will always remind me of this.

B.o.B. aka Bobby Ray – The Biz
Here’s the first leak off of B.o.B.’s upcoming mixtape, May 25th – named after the release date of his debut album and announced via Twitter by TJ Chapman earlier this week.
The twenty-one year-old emcee spit this freestyle to Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones Pt 2,” from the perspective of Bobby Ray, the more creative and open-minded side of his dual personality.
Even though he didn’t spit any ground breaking lines, “The Biz” got me excited for B.o.B.’s debut album!
Neako – Back To The Set (Featuring Wiz Khalifa)
The production on this track is incredible, as it grabs a great Eazy-E sample and provides some of the heaviest bass I’ve heard in a while. In case you were wondering, both of the Eazy-E phrases were taken from “Creep N Crawl.”
While the verses from Neako and Wiz Khalifa don’t carry any extraordinarily nice lyrics, this is a track I’d love to bump in my car.
I was already looking forward to Neako’s upcoming mixtape, Junk Food, and “Back To The Set” has only added to my anticipation!
