Ludacris – My Chick Bad (Featuring Nicki Minaj)

Shout out to whoever made that Youtube video, because it’s holding me over until the official one drops.  After seeing the BTS photos of the video shoot, “My Chick Bad Remix” looks like it’ll have nice visuals!

Luda keeps his lyrics relevant to the song’s title:

“Now your girl might be sick, but my girl sicker,
She rides that dick and she handles her liquor,
Will knock a bitch out and fight,
Coming out swingin like Tiger Woods’ wife.”

That last line has me visualizing Tiger Woods’ wife swinging a golf club viciously, ha!

The track’s screwed down hook has a nice Texas feel that’ll get stuck in your head, but my favorite part of “My Chick Bad” is Nicki Minaj’s verse.

This is one of her best guest spots:

“Now all these bitches wanna try and be my bestie,
But I take a left and leave them hanging like a testie,
Trash talk to em, then I put em in a Hefty,
Running down the court, I’m dunkin on em, Lisa Leslie,
It’s going down, basement,
Friday the Thirteenth, guess who’s playing Jason,
Tuck yourself in, you better hold on to your teddy,
It’s Nightmare on Elmstreet, and guess who’s playin Freddy,
(My Chick Bad)
Chef cookin for me,
They say my shoe game crazy, the mental asylum lookin for me,
You a rookie to me,
I’m in that wam bam purple lam, damn bitch you been a fan.”

I like how she worked in a line about Lisa Leslie – Nicki is making moves for female emcees.  If you want a sneak peak of Nicki Minaj in the video’s remix, check this out.

Battle of The Sexes is shaping up to be a great album!

Pill – Thoughts

Pill put his soul into “Thoughts,” coming hard with personal lyrics from the start:

“I had a chance to witness a beat down as a child,
I swear I just looked at it and smiled,
Been cold hearted since daddy left me alone,
Never got taught how to throw a baseball or put on
cologne, fuck em!
So many tears I cried, thinking about
Geraldine,
Cookin in the kitchen, they wonder why we rebel as teens,
My only true friend gone, so I’m a loner,
Never really had a home, and for years I’ve been a grown up,
Damn somebody save me from this nightmare called life,
Chop rocks daily, get drunk and stay up all night.”

Pill puts a lot of his personal story into his music, and this track is no different as we see him touching on his parents and his past activities.

The Atlanta emcee who exploded onto the hip hop scene in 2009 isn’t showing signs of slowing down, with 1140:The Overdose on its way and the upcoming album, The Medicine.
