Interview: Sean Falyon (2/17/10)

By Mike Boyd - Interviews

“Sean Falyon “BE” Everywhere” is a popular phrase that follows the Philly-bred, Atlanta-based emcee.

The saying was first uttered by, Texas producer, Corey Mo to describe Mr. Falyon’s apparent omnipresence within hip hop circles.  Sean ran with it.

I can co-sign Sean’s ability to network and put himself in great positions with tastemakers and other hip hop artists.  This ability to connect with such a wide range of people while maintaining a vigorous work ethic is quite impressive.

If you’re a fan of hip hop music videos, you may recognize Mr. Falyon’s beard, as both him and his facial hair have been making a number of cameos recently!  They’ve appeared in videos ranging from Asher Roth’s “I Love College,” to Grip Plyaz’s “Fuck Dat Hipster Shit.”

Needless to say, I wasn’t surprised when Sean appeared next to Yelawolf, Pill, and Cyhi Da Prynce in “I Wish Remix,” last week.  When HHAL branches into directing, you already know who we’re gonna cast.

Yesterday, Sean Falyon stopped by the HipHopAtLunch.com offices to speak about the upcoming video with Playboy Tre and Scar, the Sean Falyon “BE” Everywhere project, and what it’s like to work with The Weathermen, up-and-coming ATL producers.

Here’s a link to Sean’s first video interview, as mentioned above.

I can’t wait to see what visuals MotionFamily (Pill – Trap Goin’ Ham, Yelawolf – Pop The Trunk) creates for Sean’s “Wonderful Life.”  Judging from the family’s previous work, this video should bring a good deal of buzz around Falyon’s upcoming project.

Shout out to The Weathermen for the smooth production!

Here’s the lyrics pointed out by Sean in the interview:

“My homie rode around, pistol sittin in his lap,
looked me dead in the eye, and told me that he scared of death,
The life he chose, well it chose him back,
Some killers hunt down your spirit and put holes in that.”

The friend who Sean refers to in that quote survived being shot twice in the head, and will actually be in the video.

The Weathermen laid down another impressive track for the project with “All I Know,” featuring Freddie Gibbs and Bonecrusher.  Other tracks will feature artists who Sean Falyon has networked with, or bumped into throughout his career, such as Donwill, El Prez, Lloyd, and GLC.

Keep an eye out for Sean Falyon “BE” Everywhere dropping April 6th, and if you’re in Atlanta, make your way over to his release party/art show with Fabian Williams.  It sounds like the event is going to be sick!

Don’t let the “Freeway” Ricky Ross beard fool you, Sean Falyon’s music is far from gangsta. Having said that, it’s a good thing that Sean embraces his personal rap style instead of spitting fabricated lines in an effort to fit into the stereotypical rap image.

Before heavily pursuing the rap game, Sean first made a name for himself with his clothing line, Soupy Jones. He's since put all of his focus into music, and although being the emcee’s third project, Sean Falyon “BE” Everywhere serves as a great introduction to his sound.
