Mixtape Review: Alley Boy – Definition of Fuck Shit

By Mike Boyd - Mixtape Review, Reviews

Download Definition of Fuck Shit.

Alley Boy’s movement is taking off quick, and with the numerous co-signs coming his way, it’d be a shame to sleep on Definition of Fuck Shit, hosted by DJ Holiday and The Empire.

Some have said that the project was the most anticipatedmixtape since Young Jeezy’s Trap or Die.

Those are some big shoes to fill, but his music does give off the same “larger-than-life trap feel” that Jeezy and Gucci have perfected.

For those curious about the title, Alley Boy’s camp, Duct Tape Entertainment, defines “fuck shit” as getting what you want by any means necessary.

At the official release party for the project, DJ Khaled said that he wished he had signed the promising artist, himself.  Another impressive co-sign came from Gucci Mane La Flare on the mixtape version of Alley Boy’s hit song, “Throw It Up.”

Alley Boy – “Throw It Up.”

The video for “Throw It Up” has Alley Boy going around Atlanta, getting different gangs and sets to show their support for the Duct Tape movement.

It’s impressive to see an artist get that much respect from the streets.  After watching footage from the making of the video, I’m starting to believe that the claims about DTE being the biggest movement since BMF could be true!  The next video off the project will be for the high energy track, “Shoot 4 That,” featuring Waka Flocka.

Alley Boy – “Tall” (Featuring Young Dro)

The Definition of Fuck Shit’s first official single, “Tall,” has Young Dro and Alley Boy going in over the track’s sick sample.  Here’s a closer look at Alley’s opening verse:

“Twenty-fours on my old school,
I’m doing ninety, my davengers blue,
My trunk beatin, it’s killing you,
My paint candi, it’s killing you,
Windows tinted my sunroof,
These niggas hate, but I’m bullet proof,
My ice blinging, it’s blinding you,
But that’s just what the sun do,
I’m big spendin, my rims spinnin,
My golds’ shinin, Duct Tape with it,
My Louie shoes, and white linen,
I’m big money, you little pennies,
Asanti’s, Giovanni’s
,
We back to back pullin’ in Onyx,
Dusty hoes they looking funny,
Givin the bad hoes the money,
In my headrest is TV’s,
Watching pornos in 3-D,
Little kids that screamin bingo, when I pass by and they see me.”

There’s a lot of energy in this track about sittin’ tall in pimped out cars.  Young Dro adds his signature flavor to the song with colorful phrases that describe his car and rims such as, “Dro, I’m real tall/  Sushi rims, they real raw.

Alley Boy – “Alone.”

Alley Boy uses a voice modification technique, similar to Gorilla Zoe’s “Lost,” while exploring some of the negative thoughts going through his head in “Alone.”

Here’s an excerpt from his second verse:

“Everybody just leave me alone, I’m stressin,
I done already missed my blessin,
From robbin and takin,
Back the fuck up my head hurtin,
I got visions of niggas killin me, robbin me, shootin me,
Doin me the same way I hit niggas up for that jewlery,
Maybe I can end it quicker if I take these pills,
It’s no way I can put in work, just by the way I feel,
I got bills all up to here, I wish I could fly away,
I wonder what my folks would say if I just killed myself today,
I need a counselor, psychiatrist I can hit up on the phone,
Got this pistol up to my head ready to squeeze it,
Alone.”

It’s hard to get more personal than that!

Alley Boy – “Get To It.”

In another dark track from Alley Boy, he paints the picture of a robbery-turned-homicide over a chilling ArkatechBeatz track.

“When we hit the back door, this nigga here eatin pussy on the flo’,
Snatch him up by the dreds, break his nose with a ‘bow,
Tell that bitch to lay the fuck down, before she get’s knocked down,
Tie they ass up, cross the mouth we puttin tape round,
You know you got a slim chance, came in with no mask,
Where its at? Fuck the plan before I chop your ass,
Where that safe, hurry up and get to it,
Try to buck and get murked, I need a reason to do it,
You pussy.”

You can listen to the rest of “Get To It” to hear how Alley Boy’s 2-11 turned into a murder case.

The street record, “I’m Strapped” and reflective track, “You Don’t Know,” were early leaks off the project and were not included in this review for that reason.  Having said that, you can check them out here.

Also be sure to listen to “Big” and “Paid Dues,” as they have two of my favorite hooks off the project, and the high energy on “Rappin and Robbin” is addictive.

Label: Duct Tape Entertainment, Atlantic Records

Hometown: Atlanta, GA

Despite having been in jail for the first half of 2009, Alley Boy’s name remained relevant in the streets due to the support of his Duct Tape family and the success of Big Bank Black’s “Try It Out." Upon being released, the Edgewood, Atlanta native bounced back and signed a joint venture between Atlantic Records and DTE.

Alley Boy's co-signs range from DJ Drama, to Gucci Mane, to fellow emerging artist Pill, and the Atlanta tastemakers have already crowned Alley Boy's Duct Tape Entertainment the biggest street movement since BMF.
