Gudda Gudda – “I Don’t Like The Look (Willy Wonka)” (Featuring Lil Wayne)
Download “I Don’t Like The Look.”
The Backwudz version of this Willy Wonka-inspired beat was heavily slept on when it dropped back in 2006. I’m happy to see Weezy’s camp re-vamp the track with a strong bass line similar to that of Wayne’s “A Milli.” This is the type of track that can kill on radio, with the buzz surrounding Lil Wayne’s recent incarceration and the growing popularity of his Young Money group.
All those who were bumping The Backwudz four years ago will be happy to hear that Aleon Craft (one half of the group) just released his latest project, The Prologue Part 1, produced exclusively by SMKA. If you haven’t heard SMKA’s work, you’re in for a treat!
Gudda Gudda’s Back 2 Guddaville album should be interesting. I’m not sure how the project’s being put together, but his best bet would be to aim for a conceptual album with minimal features outside of the Young Money family. That should give the fans a great view into his sound.
David Banner – Strange (Featuring Big Remo)
Download “Strange.”
The track’s laid-back, smooth beat partially hides its serious questions that’ll leave you thinking about the government, family, and life in general. David Banner brings us in on some of his personal questions and goals at the end of the track with:
“I was just sitting back wondering, like,
When I die,
and I bow down to my knees,
When I meet the maker, like,
What am I going to say that I did with this blessing called music,
We kings and queens ya’ll,
And when the South time’s over,
I want them to know that we were more than just gold teeth,
More than just white tees, you know what I’m talkin about, my nigga?
More than just ass and titties.”
It’s good to see two of the South’s most accomplished and educated artists get together in David Banner and 9th Wonder’s upcoming album, Death Of A Pop Star.
