Hot Songs: 3/31/10 (Smoke DZA & Cam’ron)
Smoke DZA – Divine Music
Smoke DZA teamed up with Visually Inklined to film the “Divine Music” video, which captures some nice shots from all over Harlem. The reflective track worked well with the smooth sample, as DZA speaks on his love and dedication to the place that inspires his raps.
Here’s Smoke DZA’s cocky third verse:
“Ain’t shit changed, still aiming for the prize,
And I still got the music on my side,
This here’s exercise,
Who you know with a flow so live?
come through and get the whole block high,
Look in my eyes, got nothing to eff’n explain,
I’m King Kong and this rap shit’s my Jessica Lane,
What is you sayin?
Yea you see me shining, be in awe,
Cause I’m still up at 50 puffin sticky with prague,
Get on your job, cause I’m on mines,
You still waiting for your callings,
Mines on time,
I’m expecting the hate,
Niggas hate the real,
For everyone can see, but few can feel.”
Those last lines about everyone being able to see his movement, but few people really understanding it are pretty powerful.

Cam’ron – “Sorry”
“Sorry” sees Cam’ron rapping over a Reggae-influenced track that should reach outside of hip hop circles, similar to “Killa Cam” and “I Hate My Job.”
Going against the track’s laid back feel, Cam’ron speaks negatively about a female friend who’s done him wrong, with my favorite line being, “Don’t start that ‘I love you shit,’ said I had drugs in your house? Just a couple bricks.” That ridiculous line had me cracking up!
“Sorry” is going to be featured on the upcoming Boss of All Bosses 2.5 mixtape, hosted by DJ Drama.
If you’re in NYC tonight, be sure to catch Cam’ron at the Highline Ballroom, where he’ll be performing alongside Pill, Jay Rock, Big Sean, Nipsey Hussle, Donnis, and Freddie Gibbs in the XXL Freshman showcase.
