Gucci Mane – “Atlanta Zoo” (Featuring Ludacris)

“Atlanta Zoo” was released along with the announcement that Gucci Mane’s upcoming mixtape, The BurrrPrint 2HD, will drop on April 13th.  Having said that, I was surprised that the Warner Bros./Asylum records track listing for the project (listed at the end) doesn’t feature “Atlanta Zoo.”  Either this track was simply meant to build hype around this mixtape or the track listing is not final.

The DJ Holiday-hosted project, which is a sequel to the DJ Drama-hosted The Burrprint 3D, is expected to feature all new tracks with impressive southern production coming mostly from Drumma Boy.  Whether or not “Atlanta Zoo” makes the tape, let’s take a closer look at Ludacris’ show-stealing guest verse:

“Heads up my partna’s stashin bricks up on his rooftop,
Whole key, half a key, quarter key, Gucci got more quarters than a motherfucking jukebox,
Pop, pop hear the glock cocked
And got a Colt 45, like Billy D,
Semi automatic that I keep up in the attic and a shank shaped like Tennessee,
I’ll cut ya, I’ll cut ya to the white meat,
And my partna pushin’ more crack than a bike seat,
I smoke the best, I get my dro from California,
Get high and go to sleep you couldn’t wake me from a coma,
I might wake up if these rappers got beef, I smell the aroma,
These niggas ain’t got no heart, not even if they had a doner,
I roam the streets, so who the fuck is you?
Southside Collipark, king of the jungle, my name is Ludacris living in Atlanta Zoo.”

That line about pushin’ more crack than a bike seat had me crackin up.  It’s safe to assume that Gucci Mane’s fans will be hyped for this tape after a quick glance at the track listing and features:

Young Dro – “Freeze Me”

The slow beat and heavy bass on “Freeze Me,” produced by Beat Billionaire, works great for Young Dro’s flow.  Dro uses the track to call out his haters and stunt, eventually spitting, “people think it’s Kemo therapy, the way I’m balling.”

As ecstatic as I am that Atlantic Records is finally going to release B.o.B.’s debut album next month, I’d still like to see the label set a firm release date for Young Dro’s P.O.L.O. His buzz may not be where Atlantic would like, but with “I Don’t Know Ya’ll,” “On Fire,” “Checkin’ My Fresh,” “Take Off,” and “My Partna Dem” all coming out in the last year or so, I’d say Dro did a pretty good job of staying relevant, especially in T.I.P.’s absence.
