Shawn Chrystopher – “No Snitchin”

Shawn Chrystopher got his David Banner voice on in the video for “No Snitchin,” off his upcoming EP, The Audition.  Shout out to Jordan Riggs for directing the creative visuals, and to Zena Foster for providing the eye candy.

Here’s a quick excerpt from Shawn’s second verse:

“Fresh up out the jet, about to watch Kobe ball,
I’mma treat ya like the law, and I ain’t fuckin round wit ya’ll,
I be sitting on the floor, about to bring the wine out,
Be so close, get the ref, I’m bout to call a time out,
After that I’m on Rodeo, I be spending all my pesos,
With my girl, she got ass, you probably think I run with J.Lo,
I get money motherfucker, in a way that you can’t stop it,
I get pounds, I get pounds, like a fucking trending topic,
I get dollars, I get dollars, I ain’t worried about no cents,
Then I’m back to hittin purple like a groupie fuckin Prince.”

That last line about Prince had me cracking up, and I like how he worked in a reference to Twitter with the trending topic line.

T-Pain – “Reverse Cowgirl”

“Reverse Cowgirl” is a bit more pop than my usual Hot Songs, but I can’t get T-Pain’s latest single out of my head!  Big shout out to Kane Beatz (”Bedrock” “Mixin Up The Medicine“) for producing the hit single.

You may be wondering where the Young Jeezy feature went (so are we), as the track was originally leaked with a guest spot from the Snowman.  Having said that, T-Pain’s verses stand alone on the extremely club-friendly track just fine.  “Reverse Cowgirl” is the definition of what a DJ’s last song of the night should sound like, with it’s up-tempo, slow-dance feel.

While I agree with Jay-z that auto-tune needs to stop being used in commercials, I feel that T-Pain’s auto-tuned voice serves as an instrument in his songs, and therefore, he should be given a pass to continue using it in his music.

The upcoming album, rEVOLVEr, will mark T-Pain’s fourth studio release.
