Mixtape Review: Travis Porter – Proud 2 Be A Problem

HipHopAtLunch.com has been covering Travis Porter since the launch of the site, and now we’re pleased to present, along with LiveMixtapes.com, the group’s 5th official release, Proud 2 Be A Problem.

This tape marks our site’s first sponsored mixtape and comes at the highest point in the group’s career as all of the major labels are offering them record deals.

What’s special about this tape compared to the previous four is its presentation. An hour before releasing the mixtape, fans were invited to watch the group’s movie and chat about it on this custom made landing page.

The short film gives a unique look at the lives of Travis Porter and helps to explain how they used music to make the best of a bad situation. Halfway through the film, the boys put together a hilarious impromptu video for Waffle House, ha!

Travis Porter, made up of Quez, Strap, and Ali, announced their record deal with Jive on November 29th. Prior to their major deal, the group had made themselves the hottest independent rap group in the country with over forty five million Youtube views, multiple singles reaching the Billboard charts, concerts overseas, and music videos in rotation on MTV Jams.

It'll be interesting to see what the boys do while under the major label umbrella, as they've already accomplished more than a number of artists who are signed!
