Interview: Trouble speaks on December 17th, writing his music in prison, and working with Future and Decatur Dan
Download: December 17th (Mixtape)
Trouble dropped his debut project, December 17th, on April 26th, 2011.
The mixtape title comes from the day that the emerging artist was released from prison this past fall after serving a two-year sentence.
In a little over two months, he’s already become one of the hottest emerging artists in the South.
HipHopAtLunch met up with Trouble to speak on select tracks from his debut mixtape, December 17th, writing his music while in prison, how he first linked up with Future, and what it’s like to be working with Decatur Dan on his visuals.
Incase you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out my interview with Trouble’s fellow DTE member Alley Boy.
Below are the songs that we spoke on in the above interview, starting with the emotional “World Goes Round.”
Trouble – “World Goes Round”
Produced by Chase N. Cashe.
“Everytime I wake up, fuck turning up my swag,
that’s something that I done had since a youngin,
I think of what I’m gone do to keep this money coming,
I think of what I’m gone do to keep the food on the table and in my family tummy,
What to do to keep these folk from taking another one of my niggas from me.”
That’s Trouble’s real mother and grandma in the above video. He also visits his cousin’s grave at the 3:18 mark.
Trouble – “For My Patnaz”
Produced by The Olympicks.
“They say they don’t make real niggas no more,
But niggas been being hoes.”
Hopefully Trouble decides to release an extended version to this song at some point in the future. I’d like to hear the original version that he wrote while in prison.
Trouble – “Geeked Outta My Mind” (Featuring Future)
Produced by Slick B.
Both emcees went in on this track, but here’s an excerpt from Future’s impressive guest verse:
“I’m geeked up to the moon,
Young Future, just call me NASA,
Never come to Earth no more, my nigga, I’m way past ya’ll,
Alligators, Gucci’s, I’m in a whole nother element,
True’s on a Elephant, that’s a pocket full of presidents,
You want that funk, you want that funk,
I got Rick James bitch.”
Trouble – “Bussin’ Remix” (BTS Video)
Download – “Bussin’” Remix
Keep It Trill came through with some behind the scenes footage of the upcoming “Bussin’ Remix” video. Also, you can hear Trae speak on the “Bussin’ Remix” in our latest interview.
Until the video drops, however, enjoy the original version’s visuals below.
“They all bussin’ for Trouble Trouble,
OGs,
Young niggas,
Niggas younger than them.
BUSSIN’”
