Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80 (Album Download Link + Preview)

By Mike Boyd - Hip Hop News, Latest News

iTunes – Section 80 (Album)

kendrick-lamar-section-80-coverSection.80 is Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated follow up to the Compton emcee’s O(verly) D(edicated) project.  If you’re currently in California, Kendrick is having an album release signing at 2 PM in Compton.

Since dropping the OD project, Kendrick has gotten a lot of media attention.  Everything from being placed on the cover of XXL magazine, to working on a collaborative project with J.Cole, receiving a co-sign from Dr. Dre and now being looked upon as a definite feature for the long awaited Detox album.

You can get to know Kendrick a little better in this MTV first date episode, and if you want to hear what Dre first heard, check out the “Ignorance Is Bliss” video.

Four of Section.80’s sixteen tracks can be heard below.

Kendrick Lamar – “HiiiPOWER” (Feat. Alori Joh)

Produced by J.Cole.

I wrote #Section80
because I was ordered to do so.  You’ll never understand my life and my world.  Have you ever seen a new born baby kill a man?  Kendrick Lamar.  The very next scene is a visual of me with the eyes of a 6 year old.  My mother told me to keep this outtake because it said who I was. An infant looking for answers.  Will you forgive me?  I don’t give a fuck about too much nowadays because of the world.  Heart.  Honor.  Respect.  Family.  I’ll die for that though.  Will you forgive me, twice?  Probly not.  I watch this video and reminise on that krazy am hour of september 13, 2010.  I got a visit from Lesane Parish Crooks.  Research this name.  I remember being asleep.  His image said “Don’t let me die.”  I was paranoid.  I said “why”?  He said “because you the…..”

The meaning behind “HiiiPower” was further clarified in a recent interview, where Kendrick explained that the three i’s stand for heart, honor, and respect.  HiiiPower represents being above all of the madness and overcoming the negativity in your life.  Hear Kendrick speak on working with J.Cole in our feature interview.

Kendrick Lamar – “Ronald Reagan Era” (Featuring RZA)

Produced by Tae Beast.

“Compton Crip n*66as ain’t nothing to fuck with,
Bompton Piru’s ain’t nothing to fuck with,
Compton Esé’s ain’t nothin’ to fuck with,
But they fuck with me and bitch I love it.”

Just like we saw with “Vanity Slave Part II,” Kendrick put his high profile feature on only part of this song’s hook.  Check out the behind the scenes footage of this track being put together.

Kendrick Lamar – “Tammy’s Song” (Her Evils)

Produced by THC.

Kendrick creatively explores some broken relationships in this track that was released today via Drake’s blog.

Kendrick Lamar – “Hol’ Up”

Sounwave came through with the smooth production on “Hol’ Up.”  For more background information on Kendrick Lamar, check out our first post on the emerging emcee.

Here’s a quick video from Snoop Dogg and David Banner to help inspire you to buy this project.
