Pill Suggests Three Songs to New Listeners
Maybach Music Group’s Pill is gearing up to release his lastest project, The Diagnosis, on July 23rd. Since the emerging artist already has three mixtapes and one collaborative album under his belt, I decided to meet up with Pill and see how he’d introduce a new listener to his music.
Pill’s three choices can be found below.
Pill – “Trap Goin Ham”
Video directed by Motion Family and song produced by Grade-A-Muzik.
“Young Psych keep the Jays running like a track meet,
Glass on standby make ‘em wanna attack me.”
“Trap Goin Ham” was released on Pill’s debut mixtape, 4180: The Prescription, hosted by DJ Burn One. The street material presented in the song coupled with Motion Family’s clean production created a lot of buzz around Pill when the visuals were first released. Shout out to Yelawolf on his cameo at the 1:28 spot.
Pill – “Glass”
Video directed by Zach Wolfe and song produced by The Beatchefs.
Pill speaks on “Glass” in his recent documentary with The Fader. This song was released on the Atlanta emcee’s 4075: The Refill project with The Empire and DJ Skee.
Pill – “On Da Korner”
Video directed by Motion Family and song produced by Needlz.
“I’m in a staring contest with the street signs.”
“On Da Korner” was released on Pill and DJ Drama’s 1140: The Overdose project.

Pill’s music is refreshing, as he paints a portrait of the streets in a very natural and real way, effectively shaming all the artists who pretend to be from his part of town. The XXL Magazine Freshman turned heads with his debut video for "Trap Goin' Ham," directed by Motion Family, as it graphically portrayed the poverty taking place in Pink City, five minutes away from a police precinct and seven minutes away from the state capital.
So far all of Pill's releases have been named after the various locations in which he grew up. 4180: The Prescription refers back to the Kimberly Court Projects on 4180 Cant Street and 4075: The Refill refers to the address of Pill’s aunt’s house. His next release, hosted by DJ Drama, should be a major turning point in his career as he's sure to be exposed to a wide fan base. Gangsta Grillz 1140: The Overdose is set to drop on June 1st.
