Last week, Wiz Khalifa woke up a lot of major media outlets, music fans, and record label execs, that had previously been sleeping on the Pittsburgh artist's incredible fan base, with his release of Kush x Orange Juice.

Ever since parting ways with the people at Warner Bros., the XXL Freshman's career has really taken off due to the impressive amount of grass roots marketing orchestrated by his management team at Rostrum Records.

Emilio Rojas stands out from the growing number of emerging hip hop artists because of his confidence on the mic and witty lyrics.  Also, it doesn't hurt that his fashion sense has female fans interested, regardless of what his mixtapes sound like. Emilio's talent for rhyming convinced him to drop out of the University of Rochester, where he had begun to make a name for himself as an artist.  He left school to pursue his career, performing shows all over the world, and eventually making his way to Brooklyn, where he currently resides. His most recent project, The Natural was hosted by DJ Green Lantern, ...
Don't let the "Freeway" Ricky Ross beard fool you, Sean Falyon's music is far from gangsta. Having said that, it's a good thing that Sean embraces his personal rap style instead of spitting fabricated lines in an effort to fit into the stereotypical rap image.

What's unique to Sean Falyon is his impressive ability to network and get his name around the industry. As the mixtape artwork states, the Atlanta based emcee literally makes it seem like he is everywhere at once. Big shout out to Fabian Williams on creating the mixtape's artwork which carries that theme!

Just in time for winter, Gucci Mane Laflare blesses us with Movie 3: The Burrprint!, which is full of original content and hilarious interludes. The Burrprint! closes out the "Movie Trilogy" that Gucci and DJ Drama had been working on, with the successful releases of Gangsta Grillz: The Movie and The Movie Part 2. This particular mixtape received a ridiculous amount of buzz due to the title's obvious reference to Jay-z's The Blueprint 3. Speaking of Hov, Gucci goes against MTV and says that Jay-z is not the greatest rapper alive during one of the mixtape's skits.  Another funny skit on the mixtape has ...
The Brazilian-born, Florida-raised emcee, Laws has been creating a great deal of buzz around his impressive 4:57 mixtape, hosted by DJ Don Cannon. The Grammy award-winning group of producers, The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, first discovered the cocky artist after he built up a reputation as a standout battle rapper in Tampa, FL. Fans of the confident Laws are well aware of his brash persona, with the majority of them having already enjoyed his Your Future Favorite Rapper mixtape, hosted by DJ Smallz. Often a new emcee with a cocky attitude can be quiet annoying, but in Laws' case, the attitude doesn't ...
Coming as somewhat of a surprise, The Cool Kids and Don Cannon teamed up to release a four track EP last week on Christmas day. Despite a number of artists falling short of their goal to give fans an extra present on December 25th, The Cool Kids delivered their Merry Christmas EP. I say the effort was done in a surprising manner because the first time we heard of the Merry Christmas EP, it was from a video teaser released on December 24th via Decatur Dan.

Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks recorded the EP's four tracks in ...

B.o.B. fans have been anxious for new music ever since TJ Chapman (one half of B.o.B.'s management) tweeted out the good news that Atlantic Records finally set a serious release date for B.o.B. Presents the Adventures of Bobby Ray. The May 25th mixtape, sponsored by LRG and hosted by DJ Drama and DJ Sense, dropped yesterday at noon.  Although a little confusing at first, naming the mixtape after his upcoming debut album's release date was one of the more creative advertising campaigns hip hop has seen so far in 2010. Aside from a few ...
Yesterday, XXL Magazine and DJ Whoo Kid gave us a handful of new tracks from some of the best new artists in the game with their 10 Freshmen for '10 mixtape.

The tape helps to defend the new class of emcees against bitter fans and critics who argue that a different group of ten are more deserving. It also serves as a quick glimpse into each artists' style.

Regardless of whether or not these are the best freshmen emcees in the game, I applaud XXL Magazine for continuing to create a great deal of buzz around ten hard working artists each year.

Alley Boy's movement is taking off quick, and with the numerous co-signs coming his way, it'd be a shame to sleep on Definition of Fuck Shit, hosted by DJ Holiday and The Empire.

Some have said that the project was the most anticipatedmixtape since Young Jeezy’s Trap or Die.

Those are some big shoes to fill, but his music does give off the same "larger-than-life trap feel" that Jeezy and Gucci have perfected.

The Clipse are hoping that the third time's the charm, as their much anticipated third release, Til The Casket Drops, hits shelves on December 8th. Although the group's first two albums were solely produced by The Neptunes, they were able to maintain their signature sound while adding a few new producers to the mix. In a recent interview, Malice commented that the upcoming album will touch on personal subjects, giving listeners a glimpse into their lives. Instead of an intro or skit, the Clipse decided to start off with the track "Freedom," which immediately sets the mood for the rest of Til The Casket Drops. Clipse - "Freedom."...
