Fashawn goes in over the beat to Gucci Mane and Drake's "Street Cred," for the first leak off of his upcoming Grizzly City mixtape, dropping on August 24th.  The project will mark the third release in his Grizzly City series.

If you're not familiar with Fashawn's music, you should listen to his critically acclaimed debut album, Boy Meets World.  Also, be sure to check out the XXL Freshman's Ode To Illmatic project!

8Ball & MJG - "Bring It Back" (Featuring Young Dro)

"Bring It Back" is the first single off of 8Ball & MJG's upcoming Ten Toes Down album, which sounds like it's going to feature more of the hard southern sound they're known for. A number of DJs and southern artists such as DJ Grandmaster Flash, Bigga Rankin, Mike Bigga, Tony from The Core DJs, Young Buck, and Jazze Pha, paid their respects to the Memphis legends with cameos in the Gabriel Hart-directed video.(More..)

Shawn Chrystopher puts his heart and soul into the the wonderfully put together "Untitled," which still gives me chills with each listen. Having said that, I was surprised that Shawn didn't perform the standout track when I saw him in concert this past fall.

After the show, he informed me that because he had written the love song for a girl who later broke his heart, he was unable to perform it live. I came across a similar situation in a recent interview with Fashawn, where he explained the inspiration behind "When She Calls," and why he's never been able to perform the track. (More..)

Yesterday, XXL Magazine and DJ Whoo Kid gave us a handful of new tracks from some of the best new artists in the game with their 10 Freshmen for '10 mixtape.

The tape helps to defend the new class of emcees against bitter fans and critics who argue that a different group of ten are more deserving. It also serves as a quick glimpse into each artists' style.

Regardless of whether or not these are the best freshmen emcees in the game, I applaud XXL Magazine for continuing to create a great deal of buzz around ten hard working artists each year.

So far this year, Fashawn saw his name on the upcoming XXL Magazine Freshmen 10, adding to his already impressive list of co-signs.
