Nero linked up with Vimby to talk about hip hop and his place in it.  He also shares some nice verses in between interview questions.

At only sixteen years old, Nero is making a name for himself throughout New York City and the online blog world.

Unlike other young artists, who all too often use their time on the mic to create dance songs or meaningless commercial music, Nero shows us that he has a real love and respect for hip hop culture.

This love for hip hop is apparent in the title track off of the Alive and Vibrant: Relive the Moment mixtape, “Alive and Vibrant.”

Nero finds his home on this beat and opens up to the listener with lines like:

“When anything got too bleak,
I drown in the sonic matter,
Downing the tonic faster,
Cause the beat’s my release,
So when I reach for headphones,
Understand Im bout to head home.”

Nero is as much a fan as he is an artist, and in this day and age, it is rare to see someone making music out of love instead of simply pursuing riches!

Nero stopped by the HipHopAtLunch.com offices after school last week, to speak about his music and how he linked up with his manager Mike Waxx of illRoots.com.

Here is a link to Nero’s remake of the Pete Rock classic, “They Reminisce Over You.”  Upon hearing this track, Mike Waxx knew that Nero had undeniable talent.  Also, if you want a glimpse into my mind, here is a link to Nero’s remake of the ESG classic “Swangin’ & Bangin’,” which immediately made me think Nero was a young Houston emcee.  He killed the Third Coast’s feel and slang on that track!

On Monday, Nero and Mike Waxx released the video for “Funkorama,” which was shot at Coney Island.  This video features Nero going in over the Redman classic joint of the same name.

That video is sick, and does a great job capturing Nero’s personality.

How many sixteen year olds do you know with a sick flow like his?  If you want to see a hip hop artist evolve from an early age, keep an eye on Nero!
