Fifteen tracks plus two bonus cuts seems a little long for an EP, but when you're releasing quality music few people will complain about the length. Also, Shawn Chrystopher has stated that while making The Audition EP, he focused less on appealing to critics and more on creating something that he could enjoy, himself.

Having said that, there were a few too many songs that focused on the opposite sex, making the EP a bit redundant at times. Leaving out some of these tracks would have made for a more enjoyable listen. (More..)

Shawn Chrystopher's buzz has been growing steadily since our last interview, and with yesterday's release of The Audition EP, hosted by Mick Boogie and Terry Urban, it doesn't look like it'll be dying down anytime soon!

Last night, Shawn flew out to NYC to perform at SOB's with Hot 97's DJ Quiz, only to catch a flight back to L.A. hours after his set. The trip was well worth it though, as Shawn got a chance to rock his new music in front of a packed house of NYC tastemakers and fans alike. (More..)

Shawn Chrystopher puts his heart and soul into the the wonderfully put together "Untitled," which still gives me chills with each listen. Having said that, I was surprised that Shawn didn't perform the standout track when I saw him in concert this past fall.

After the show, he informed me that because he had written the love song for a girl who later broke his heart, he was unable to perform it live. I came across a similar situation in a recent interview with Fashawn, where he explained the inspiration behind "When She Calls," and why he's never been able to perform the track. (More..)
